Getting more traffic is one of the most important tasks for any webmaster

Dear valued webmaster,
Recently i was posted this website about of How to Increase Website Traffic for Free.
How to Getting traffic is one of the most important tasks for any web master. What is more, you can't get traffic once and then just reap the benefits. Getting traffic is an ongoing task and you must be constantly doing it, if you want to get traffic and keep it. Here are some of the ways to get more traffic.

1) Optimize your site for search engines.

Search engines have always been a major way to get more traffic. That is why you need to do your homework and optimize your site so that it ranks well for the keywords you target. SEO is still the most powerful way to get more traffic and you really need to invest some time and efforts in the optimization of your site. SEO is not that difficult and if you want to get familiar with it in a nutshell, check our SEO Tutorial. If you are too busy for that, you can start with the 15 Minute SEO article.

2) Frequently update the contents of your site.

If you expected some shocking secrets revealed, you might be a bit disappointed. One of the first steps in getting more traffic is trivial but vital – get great content and frequently update it. In terms of SEO, content is king. If your content is good and frequently updated you will not only build a loyal audience of recurring visitors, who will often come to see what is new, but search engines will also love your site.

3) Take advantage of social bookmarking sites.

Social bookmarking sites (especially the most popular among them) are another powerful way to get more traffic. If you want to learn how to do it, check the How to get Traffic from Social Bookmarking sites article, where we have explained what to do if you want to get more traffic from sites such as Digg, Delicious, etc.

4) Use your Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Social networks are also a way to get more traffic. If you are popular on networks, such as Twitter or Facebook, the traffic you get from there can easily surpass the traffic from Google and the other search engines. It is true that building a large network of targeted followers on Twitter and supporters on Facebook takes a lot of time and effort but generally the result is worth.

5) Get links with other sites in your niche.

Another way to get more traffic is from other sites in your niche. Getting links with other sites in your niche is also good for SEO, especially if you manage to get links without the famous nofollow attribute. But even if the links are nofollow (i.e. they are useless for SEO), they still help to get more traffic to your site. If you manage to put your link in a visible place on a site with high volumes of traffic, you can get thousands of hits from this link alone. If you need list of sites within your niche where you could get backlinks from, check the Backlink Builder tool. However, be careful if you exchange links because linking to bad neighbors can do you a lot of harm.

6) Use any chance to promote your site for free.

Free promotion is always welcome, so don't neglect it. There are many ways to promote your site for free and some of the most popular ones include free classified ads, submissions to directories, inclusion in various listings, etc. It is true that not all free ways to promote your site work well but if you select the right places to promote your site for free, this can also result in tons of more traffic.

7) Create a free product or service.

Content drives most traffic when you offer something useful. There are many types of useful content you can create and they largely depend on the niche of your site. You can have articles with tons of advice, or short tips but one of the most powerful ways to get more traffic is to create a free product or service. When this product or service gets popular and people start visiting your site, chances are that they will visit the other sections of the site as well.

8) Use viral content.

Free products and services are great for getting more traffic to your site and one of the best varieties in this aspect is viral content. Viral content is called so because it distributes like a virus – i.e. when users like your content, they send it to their friends, post it on various sites, and promote it for free in many different ways. Viral content distributes on its own and your only task is to create it and submit it to a couple of popular sites. After that users pick it and distribute it for you. Viral content can be a hot video or a presentation but it can also be a good old article or an image.

9) Use offline promotion.

Offline promotion is frequently forgotten but it is also a way to get more traffic. Yes, computers are everywhere and many people spend more time online than offline but still life hasn't moved completely on the Web. Offline promotion is also very powerful and if you know how to use it, this can also bring you many visitors. Some of the traditional offline ways to promote your site include printing its URL on your company's business cards and souvenirs or sticking it on your company vehicles. You can also start selling T-shirts and other merchandise with your logo and this way make your brand more popular.

10) Include your URL in your signature.

URLs in forum signatures are also a way to get more traffic. There are forums, which get millions of visitors a day and if you are a popular user on such a forum, you can use this to get traffic to your site. When you post on forums and people like your posts, they tend to click the link to your site on your signature to learn more about you. In rare cases you might be able to post a deep link (i.e. a link to an internal page of the site) rather than a link to your homepage and this is also a way to focus attention to a particular page. Unfortunately, deep links are rarely allowed.

Promoting Your Site to Increase Traffic

The main purpose of SEO is to make your site visible to search engines, thus leading to higher rankings in search results pages, which in turn brings more traffic to your site. And having more visitors (and above all buyers) is ultimately the goal in sites promotion. For truth's sake, SEO is only one alternative to promote your site and increase traffic – there are many other online and offline ways to do accomplish the goal of getting high traffic and reaching your target audience. We are not going to explore them in this tutorial but just keep in mind that search engines are not the only way to get visitors to your site, although they seem to be a preferable choice and a relatively easy way to do it.

1. Submitting Your Site to Search Directories, forums and special sites

After you have finished optimizing your new site, time comes to submit it to search engines. Generally, with search engines you don't have to do anything special in order to get your site included in their indices – they will come and find you. Well, it cannot be said exactly when they will visit your site for the first time and at what intervals they will visit it later but there is hardly anything that you can to do invite them. Sure, you can go to their Submit a Site pages in submit the URL of your new site but by doing this do not expect that they will hop to you right away. What is more, even if you submit your URL, most search engines reserve the right to judge whether to crawl your site or not. Anyway, here are the URLs for submitting pages in the three major search engines: Google, MSN, and Yahoo.

In addition to search engines, you may also want to have your site included in search directories as well. Although search directories also list sites that are relevant to a given topic, they are different from search engines in several aspects. First, search directories are usually maintained by humans and the sites in them are reviewed for relevancy after they have been submitted. Second, search directories do not use crawlers to get URLs, so you need to go to them and submit your site but once you do this, you can stay there forever and no more efforts on your side are necessary. Some of the most popular search directories are DMOZ and Yahoo! (the directory, not the search engine itself) and here are the URLs of their submissions pages: DMOZ and Yahoo!.

Sometimes posting a link to your site in the right forums or special sites can do miracles in terms of traffic. You need to find the forums and sites that are leaders in the fields of interest to you but generally even a simple search in Google or the other major search engines will retrieve their names. For instance, if you are a hardware freak, type “hardware forums” in the search box and in a second you will have a list of sites that are favorites to other hardware freaks. Then you need to check the sites one by one because some of them might not allow posting links to commercial sites. Posting into forums is more time-consuming than submitting to search engines but it could also be pretty rewarding.

2. Specialized Search Engines

Google, Yahoo!, and MSN are not the only search engines on Earth, nor even the only general-purpose ones. There are many other general-purpose and specialized search engines and some of them can be really helpful for reaching your target audience. You just can't imagine for how many niches specialized search engines exist – from law, to radiostations, to educational one! Some of them are actually huge sites that gather Webwide resources on a particular topic but almost all of them have sections for submitting links to external sites of interest. So, after you find the specialized search engines in your niche, go to their site and submit your URL – this could prove more trafficworthy than striving to get to the top of Google.

3. Paid Ads and Submissions

We have already mentioned some other alternatives to search engines – forums, specialized sites and search engines, search directories – but if you need to make sure that your site will be noticed, you can always resort to paid ads and submissions. Yes, paid listings are a fast and guaranteed way to appear in search results and most of the major search engines accept payment to put your URL in the Paid Links section for keywords of interest to you but you also must have in mind that users generally do not trust paid links as much as they do with the normal ones – in a sense it looks like you are bribing the search engine to place you where you can't get on your own, so think twice about the pros and cons of paying to get listed.

How To Increase Your Visitors With Pinnable Images

Pinterest is a great way to drive an insane amount of traffic to your website, but the key is making images on your website “pin-worthy”. While there’s no shame in pinning your own images, the real cherry on the top will be having your visitors pin the images onto their own boards.
Before you add the Pinterest button next to the Facebook and Twitter buttons, there are a few things you should consider to make your website’s images more pinnable.

1. Find An Eye-Catching Background Image

There are a few ways to find good images, including taking your own or using images with a Creative Commons license. I run a parenting blog, and if I want to write a post about a recipe I can easily take a few pictures of the meal as it’s being prepared. If you don’t have the luxury of providing your own pictures, there are plenty of websites that have images you can use. Here are a few of my favorites:
You should also consider the dimensions of the photo when you’re selecting one to use. I tend to notice vertical images on the Pinterest home page over square or horizontal images, and the maximum horizontal width that Pinterest will show is 554 pixels. Anything wider will be automatically re-sized. Data from Dan Zarrella reveals that taller images are actually more repinnable. I found the photo below on Wikimedia Commons, and will show you the steps that I take to edit in the following steps.

2. Edit The Image

Once you have your background image, use a photo editor to give it some pizzazz. PicMonkey.com is a free editing tool, and there are various filters and effects you can give your photos. If you weren’t able to find a narrow image, you can simply crop the photo to the dimensions you want. You can also add text to the image, like the title of the blog post, the name of the product, or something clever that will draw some clicks.

3. Add The Image To Your Content

If you’re working with a blog post, you’ll want to scatter these pinnable images throughout the content. Ideally you should have the main title card, or the image with the title of the post, at the beginning of the article, and a few smaller images spread out between the paragraphs. Since every website is a different case, see which method works best for you: aligning the content around the images, or placing the images in the empty spaces around the text.
How to Make Pinnable ImagesSince your goal is to drive traffic to your website, don’t give it all away in your image. Give people a reason to click!

Think of your image as the front of your home. It it looks warm and inviting, they’re more likely to come in and have a cup of tea. With pin-worthy images on your website, existing visitors will have another opportunity to engage with your brand, and new visitors will hopefully discover a reason to come back.
